Wombat Home (we, us, our) respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What we collect

When you use the Site or place an order, we may collect:

Identity and contact information — your name, email address, phone number, and shipping address;
Order information — the products you buy, purchase amount, and order history;
Payment information — handled by Stripe; we do not store your card details on our servers;
Technical and usage information — IP address, browser type, device, pages visited, referring URL, and how you interact with the Site (collected via cookies and analytics tools);
Marketing preferences — if you sign up to our waitlist or marketing emails.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

process and fulfil your orders;
send order confirmations, updates, and customer support;
improve the Site and our products;
detect and prevent fraud;
send marketing communications, where you have opted in (you can opt out at any time);
comply with our legal obligations.

3. Who we share your information with

We share information only with service providers that help us operate the business, and only to the extent needed:

Stripe — payment processing
Resend — sending transactional emails (order confirmations, etc.)
Supabase — database and authentication
Vercel — website hosting
Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — analytics and advertising via Meta Pixel

Some of these providers store data outside Australia (commonly the United States or European Union). By using the Site, you consent to your information being handled in those locations subject to the protections required under the APPs.

We may also disclose your information where required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.

4. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for things like remembering items in your cart, measuring how the Site is used, and running advertising campaigns. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Site may not function correctly.

5. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure hosting, and limiting employee access on a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as needed to provide the products and services you request, comply with our legal obligations (such as tax and accounting requirements), and resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.

Under the APPs, you have the right to:

request access to the personal information we hold about you;
request correction of information that is inaccurate or out of date;
opt out of marketing communications at any time;
make a complaint about how we handle your information.

8. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when published on the Site. We will note the "Effective" date at the top of this page when we update.
